Ep13 – ‘Excellence isn’t always good enough…’ with Kiko Thiel

Kiko Thiel began her professional life as a management consultant. And she was extremely successful. But, as she climbed higher in the consulting ranks, her sense of altitude sickness increased. She began to question whether striving for excellence was a good enough goal:

“Excellence is really about staying within the status quo and striving harder, whereas extraordinary is creating a new paradigm. Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Walt Disney… there are certain individuals who just find their own way and ask probing questions. They don’t take anything for granted. These people see things differently”.

Kiko has devoted the last ten years to researching this phenomenon. Focusing on the mindsets, motivations and behaviours of extraordinary people she has now become a sought-after speaker and PhD mentor to business leaders. In this podcast, she reveals why some people are driven to trade excellence for exceptional. Why they view life through a different lens to get an entirely different perspective on possibilities.
