Sadly all too often great ideas are derailed by a narrow departmental attitudes and behaviours. Siloed thinking means large organisations often kill great concepts through death by a thousand cuts.
It’s ironic that whilst organizational cultures often act as a barrier to cross-team working, great ideas are better when developed by diverse teams. Getting from an early conceptual thought to a successful pilot or prototype requires a multidisciplinary team who are all aligned behind a common goal.
With many of us, like F1, about to restart after a summer break we should try and see the power and beauty of teamwork in a F1 pit crew and consider how we can break barriers and create the right environment for successful innovation.
